岡山県倉敷市庄新町 楯築遺跡

倉敷市域北東の岡山市と境を接するあたりに広がる王墓山丘陵の北端、楯築神社の境内を中心とする弥生時代後期の墳丘墓です。
自然地形を利用し盛り土を行って整えられて墳丘の規模は、現在知られている弥生時代の墳丘墓としては最大級です。円丘部は径約50m、高さ5m。墳丘頂部には5個の巨石が立っており、墳丘斜面には円礫帯がめぐっています。
岡山大学考古学研究室による発掘調査の結果、朱の敷き詰められた棺とそれを納めた木製の槨の痕跡が発見され、鉄剣と大量のガラス小玉、土製の勾玉などもみつかりました。弥生時代から古墳時代にかけての社会の変化を研究するうえで、触れずにすますことのできない全国的にも重要な遺跡のひとつです。

楯築神社の御神体であるこの石は，その形や表面に彫られた文様から亀石とも呼ばれています。その大きさは縦横約90cm大です。（江戸時代には白頂馬龍神石とも呼ばれた）
石の表面には全面に特殊な帯状曲線入組文様（旋帯文）が飾られ，正面には人間の顔のような彫り込みがみられます。遺物の呪術的性格を物語るこの特異な文様は，弥生時代から古墳時代への移行期に首長の墓に供えられた特殊器台にみられるものと類似しています。
また境内にある楯築遺跡の発掘調査では，この石と酷似する小型の石製品が弥生土器等と一緒に出土しています。
弥生時代から古墳時代にかけての大きな時代の変化を知るうえで貴重な学術価値の高い資料です。

It is an in the latter half tumulus in the north end of the King grave mountain hill spreading out for a hit to border Okayama-shi of the Kurashiki city limits northeast, the Yayoi period around the precincts of the shield Shinto shrine old.

As a result of excavation with the Okayama University archeology laboratory, a trace of wooden 槨 where I put cinnabar red coffin and it which were spread all in was discovered, and an iron sword and a large quantity of glass Kodama, the comma-shaped bead of the clay were found, too. It is one of the remains which are important nationwide which cannot let you touch it in studying a social change from Yayoi period to Burial Mound age.

This stone which is the object of worship of the shield Shinto shrine old is called Kameishi by the form and surface from a carved pattern. The size is an approximately 90cm in width in height size. (called the white top horse dragon King stone in the Edo era)
Special belt-shaped curve two line pattern with interlocking hooked ends-like (setaimon) is given glory to on the surface of the stone by the entire surface, and the cutting groove such as the human face is thought to be it in the front. I resemble it that this specific pattern showing character of the black art of remains is seen in the special container level offered in the grave of the chief for the shifts period from Yayoi period to Burial Mound age.
In addition, by the excavation of shield remains in the precincts old, this stone and small stoneware to closely resemble are excavated with earthenware in the Yayoi Period.
It is a high document of the arts and sciences value that is valuable in knowing the change of the big times from Yayoi period to Burial Mound age.
